"M Officials" approached the…

"M Officials" approached the NCAA with a proposed set of penalties to resolve the scouting investigation case and the NCAA supposedly rejected them

No idea, obviously, but I wouldn't be surprised at all if this were true. I also don't think it would tell us much of anything. Let's say we proposed time served (fired Stalions and the Harbaugh suspension) plus probation (concurrent with the burgergate probation) and a fine. Let's say the NCAA rejects that. That doesn't mean the NCAA is going to bring a hammer, just that they may want to add another year of probation or increase the fine.

It would tell us that we're willing to concede a violation occurred, but I think we already knew that. Back in the fall, before the conference decided to step in, the reporting indicated that the school was not going to try to use technicalities to absolve Stalions. Personally, I took that as a sign that the coaching staff did not know about or instruct Stalions to procure iPhone footage of opponents. If Stalions had been operating under the direction of Harbaugh or Minter, then presumably they would have been more inclined to plead their case that this was within the rules. That's just my thought on it, anyway.

I think that Smith's comments are actually just an admission that it wasn't a big deal. His use of the word "visceral" reveals this. He's saying people (or rather, OSU fans) are expecting a big punishment because they are having a visceral (i.e., emotional) reaction rather than a rational one. Expecting vacated wins or bowl bans is irrational, is how I read Smith's comment. Saying that the two wins "deserve a little bit of an asterisk" is a far cry from saying they don't count or should be vacated. It's just his way of pandering to his base to say, yeah, they broke a rule so we can put half an asterisk on it if we want to.

Don't forget that Ryan Day's mentor at OSU had a racist hire. After Iowa had to fire their racist S&C coach, Urban hired him right away to coach in Jacksonville. And then he had to immediately resign because of the backlash.

Best theory I heard on the…

Best theory I heard on the Kraft stuff is that Brady genuinely wanted Kraft to be off limits. But it was going to be extremely weird to have Kraft there and not make massage jokes. So Ross did the first--incredibly tame--one so that Brady could pretend to be upset and shout-whisper into Ross's ear/microphone. And then people would accept that's why there were no more Kraft jokes.

Glaser also said there was a kind of agreement to not go after Brady's kids. Brady's been mocked for kissing his kids on the lips so she had a joke, "Tom, we can make out at the afterparty. You can pretend I'm your son." I like that Glaser's rule, apparently, is to protect the kids during the roast but then it's fair game for her to tell the joke after. Not sure how that is exactly attacking his son any more or less than ripping on the kid's mom all night. According to Gisele's publicist, the kids are very scarred right now.

It does seem that all the non-athletes were protected. Kevin Hart is short, Jeff Ross is fat...really tame.

With all the Gisele infidelity jokes, I thought it was strange that no one talked about Tom stepping out. I'm pretty sure those rumors existed at one point in their marriage.

Also Drew Bledsoe said on Edleman's podcast that he was asked to do the 9/11 Jets joke and he refused. He also was asked to do the Favre joke but didn't want to because Favre wasn't going to be there and wasn't part of the roast. So it's funny that Brady was like, "Yeah, let me do those!" Bledsoe also said his wife vetoed a Gisele joke that, unlike Glaser, he wasn't willing to repeat.

No one joked about Jeff Ross…

Closest anyone came was "You remind me of the patient from Operation. You light up whenever you get touched by kids."

How many have been posted? The only one I saw was "OTish - Sickest Burn of All Time?" about Eli's tweet the day after.

Surprisingly little discussion on the board about the roast IMO.

Yes. Sainristil was asked about this on a Commanders podcast and said “I call them what they are. Ohio State.”

The only reason I accept “Ohio” as a dig is because it really bothers them.

We don’t need to steal their shit. This reminds me, I came across this the other day:

Denver was top seed in the Big East and lost in their conference tournament to a decent but not great Villanova, who eventually lost to Georgetown. Hoyas with the AQ got an 8 seed.

Denver is good but with how Michigan played last weekend it’s winnable. UM won on the road in the first round last year against 8 seed Cornell.

A win over Denver would likely put us in the quarters against #4 Syracuse. I don’t remember if we’ve ever played Cuse, I don’t think so.  That would be fun.

Meet Khary Crump, age 22, a sad man who wears a Spartan helmet, believing himself to be, in a manner of speaking, an actual ancient warrior of Sparta. Tonight, he's about to cross the line between competition and consequence, between defeat and dispute.

In the world of football, there are rules and regulations, codes of conduct that govern the game. But what happens when a man lets his rage override reason? When violence becomes the only language he knows?

The playing field isn't always what it seems. And for Khary Crump, the consequences of his actions in the famed Lloyd Carr Tunnel are about to take him on a journey beyond the gridiron, because that tunnel is, in fact, a portal that can lead to redemption. But for one Khary Crump, that redemption comes at a price – in the Twilight Zone.

Honestly I don't know WTF …

Honestly I don't know WTF "pro-style" even means anymore.

When Harbaugh went to the NFL from Stanford he ran "college" stuff. When he came back to Michigan he ran "pro" stuff. It was the same stuff.

Then Harbaugh ran spread with Shea to go to "college" stuff. Then back to under center for "pro" stuff (the consensus description of what JJ did at Michigan).

Meanwhile his brother is running Lamar in Baltimore, Mahomes is doing whatever the eff he wants in KC, and Brady ran a "pro" spread for two decades, not under center.

As long as your playbook is more than three plays, it's a real offense afaik.
