Sounds like she is wildly overqualified:

"Terése Whitehead, an executive at the National Football League Players Association and former Michigan grad, has been tapped for the on-campus role, it was announced Wednesday. Whitehead was hired by Altius Sports Partners in an agreement struck with the school to provide consulting and strategic guidance with NIL

Whitehead returns to Michigan from the NFLPA, where she was vice president for consumer products and strategy at the for-profit business arm NFL Players Inc. In her eight years with the union, she helped generate more than $2.75 billion in sales from global licensing and strike business relationships with NFL players.

Her resume also includes a stint as senior vice president of marketing and brand development at the Arlington, Va.-based sports agency Tandem Sports + Entertainment, where she spearheaded marketing efforts for various NBA, WNBA and MLB players. Among her client list: Grant Hill, Ray Allen, Tim Duncan, and Tamkia Catchings.

The 1999 Michigan grad also has a background in team marketing, working in advertising, branding and promotions for the Atlanta Braves (MLB) and Atlanta Thrashers (NHL)."

Hopefully this goes a long way toward helping our NIL efforts

This can take some of the fund raising duties from the coaches, that would be good.

Warde has certainly been busy and like the May hiring so far.  Sherron's hiring was simple but the right choice also.  The AD job is not easy and Warde is well respected among his peers.  If I was Santa, I would be thankful to have an experienced AD during these time of unprecedented change.

Meh, everything I’ve read says we would have missed out on May if it wasn’t for Coach B.

It was only necessary to hire Moore because Warde botched the Harbaugh extension.

Warde also let Bakitch get away….

Warde also let coach B get away…

Hired Juwan Howard

Hired Mel Pearson.

Hired

Not to sure about the no revenue sports

Yes, May hiring was great.  It's true Beilein was key to bringing in May, so theoretically it's possible Warde was not doing well and Ono had to call in Beilein?

But that's very cynical although potentially true.

So, at the end of the day it was his job to hire a basketball coach and we have a great one now.

At least for me, that means I think he should stay until his next big disaster.  If Ono is choosing to keep Warde afloat, idk then what can we really do about it if the job is getting done well (for now.)

A "former Michigan grad"?  Maaaaan you can't leave the family that easily.  Once you're a made woman (or man) there is only one way out.

My first idea for her is to sell Cokes at the bookstore and the profits go to NIL and free tickets go to fans.  Then when this doesn't work, she can go lead a dying mega toy store into massive failure and backrupcy.

the grammatically incorrect “dedication” “poem” was the least pretentious thing about that house…

I have a friend who met Dave Brandon once, he said Dave was every bit the self-confident “used car salesman energy” all-style-no-substance try-hard. So, basically, as expected

My idea is to rob banks, use the money to buy coke, sell that coke, and use the proceeds to fund an NIL. The hold-up in getting started is, of course, Warde Manuel. The problem, he claims, is that my plan is "transactional not transformational" in addition to being "very extremely illegal." Come on, Warde. The Tigers are playing...tonight! And I never miss a game.

Great news. Looking forward to everyone complaining about NIL still even though we just won a natty and then landed a major portal class in hoops.

Bro we just won the national fucking championship, undefeated.  Maybe the NIL program is working pretty fucking well??!!??

In terms of Basketball, Howard had tons of talent on his rosters.  NIL was not the problem, and based on May's first recruiting class, still not a problem at all.

Then let's look at the means.  Harbaugh got a whole (normal year's) class worths of NFL draft picks to come back for a senior year.  He didn't outcompete other big time college programs, he outcompeted the NFL for these players.

What about basketball?? Howard's last few teams drastically underperformed their talent.  And then yes, recruiting was just poor towards the end of his tenure, but whose fault was that?

Since May took charge, we haven't whiffed on a single recruit because of admissions or NIL issues, and we have a really good roster for this season.  And the cupboard was bare six weeks ago!

So what exactly is wrong with our NIL that the rest of us need a lecture from you about??

Until there is the equivalent of a "salary cap" in college sports, the competitive landscape will be shaped by whoever can generate the most revenue.  Right now NIL is the only way money is "officially" being channeled to athletes (no AD or university is currently sharing ticket or rights revenue).  Hiring someone with the background of Ms. Whitehead signals that the UM AD leadership understands this, and is all-in on staying competitive.  Now, just like any head coach, she needs to perform.  I can't wait to see what the box score looks like for this!

I don't think Warde had much to do with this - she was hired by Altuis Mgmt.  Granted, Warde had something to do with signing Altruis as a NIL consultant, so there's that.  And he probably looked at her resume and signed off on it.  But I seriously doubt he was in on the search or interviews.  Just not (usually) the way key positions are filled by contractor's.  In my experience, the contractor finds and interviews candidates, then runs the resume / IV notes across the Prime's PM (Warde, in this case) for approval.  Probably also bring the candidate in to meet with the PM (Warde).

So kudos to Warde for not shooting her down?

Just a few days ago you were laughing at another board member and being super smug/insulting to them when they suggested Warde might be waking up to our NIL needs.  Now that Michigan has made this fantastic major hire that signals Warde and Michigan are waking up to NIL needs, you've entered the spin-zone to try to give Warde the least amount of credit as possible.

I'm not a huge fan of Warde, but good lord, the delusional hate some have for Warde is crazy.  It has to get tiring just constantly hate-hate-hating all the time.

Looks like a great hire and if Warde was heavily involved, good on him!  If, on the other hand, Ms. Whitehead was brought in by Altius and Warde just had to rubber-stamp it as VaBlue suggests, then it is more of the same "whatever is easiest for Warde" M.O.  Since details haven't been provided, I'd say no kudos or scorn for Warde on this one.

WTF are you even talking about?  My post here is doing nothing more than relaying my experience with key hires made by sub-contractors.  You made it a personal attack for some reason.

I am not a fan of Warde - you are correct on that count.  I believe he's a follower, rather than a leader, when in a room with his peers.  I don't believe he backs his coaches/programs as much as he could, or as much as other ADs do.  Instead of acting in a program's best interest, I believe he's content to do as little as possible.  He will appease authority rather than stand up for what's right when it's a hard stand.  I've also given him a LOT of credit for being a good administrator and running the UM AD from a business perspective - which makes it exceedingly difficult for Ono to get rid of him under whatever pretense.

But my post wasn't about any of that.  I'm not sure why you felt the need to make this a personal attack...

WTF are you even talking about?

I pretty clearly stated what I was talking about.  What are you having trouble following?

Just a few days ago, when someone suggested Warde might be waking up to NIL needs, you said:

"HAHAHAHAAAAA!!!!  You're funny!!  Where is your gig scheduled?  I'll buy a ticket!"

Being shitty and condescending to the person you replied to just because you hate Warde.  Not a great look!

Now when this news drops, supporting the idea that Warde really is waking up to NIL needs, you enter into full propagandist mode to spin it in the worst possible way for Warde so your previous statements don't look as foolish.  It's quite obvious what you're trying to do.

Seriously?  LOL!!  That's "shitty and condescending"?  Dude, look in the mirror...  Your putting words where there aren't any.  You're also being a bit sensitive about internet comments.  Again, I relayed my experience with how subcontracts and prime Prog Mngrs usually work regarding key personnel decisions (YMMV).  I even said "kudos to Warde" for not shooting down the hire and gave him credit for getting Altuis onboard!  Apparently, you can't parse that post for what it is...

I'm guessing that VaBlue was joking with that post you quoted. When I think of shitty and condescending, it's usually something more like this:

Is it your phone?  This doesn't happen to anyone else, to my knowledge.

The site is making you put spaces before the punctuation?

or maybe

You didn't actually watch that football game, did you?

or even

Tweet link is broken, title is incredibly dumb and makes no sense.

Fail all around on this one, OP.  You can do better.

Oh, this one's my favorite. When others were ribbing the OP with levity, you posted

Scam bullshit.  Doesn't belong on this board

Yes, the board is much better used as a craigslist "Help Wanted" forum where people are constantly asking for money and favors.

But those examples are from your posting history, not VaBlue's. I don't personally have a problem with the occasional condescension. And it seems like you don't either, so maybe you shouldn't be busting others' balls for doing it themselves.
