Cade was a great example of a good QB who's skills were pre-snap reads and not turning it over. We won a B1G championship with that dude. So can Orji's replicate that? Maybe. If he's a dynamic runner and can be a 3rd and 4th down maven a la an Urban Meyer qb that makes it damn hard to get this team off the field and we can roll the dice because our D is nasty, well, you can win a lot of games that way. Could Tuttle/Warren have a version of that which is their thing? Quite possibly - Warren is a JJ-lite and Tuttle has a ton of college experience. And freshman Jadyn Davis isn't ready but has all the recruiting chops to be a JJ like Qb - how long does it take for him to get up to college speed?

The fact of the matter is that they've been outcoached, outdeveloped, and out-toughed at every level. If having more money to get more "best" players is the only strategy, they're effed. And also, if we manage to beat them again this year, let's see how much the donors want to pony up for next year. OSU has a culture problem, they have holes in key spots on their roster despite being insanely deep at others, and they aren't strong in the trenches.

Wimsatt would not be marked improvement over Davis Warren or Jack Tuttle, IMO. I also believe that the QB version of PTSD is real and that once guys get the spooks from being behind an o-line that is inferior to many of your opponents d-line, you can shake that out of them. Gavin will more than likely go on to be turnover machine wherever he lands next unless he's at a big fish in a little pond school/conference.

For a legitimatley good player though, you could go lots of places that would pay you similar NIL (not here) and you could have a hope of winning more than 8 games once in your career
Yep, I do remember, but typically those schools kept their head coach and already were doing the anything goes model for recruiting so they just got to do more of it. We lost our head coach and half the coaching staff, and have only had an intact staff for a few weeks plus or minus some DUIs.

Considering we lost our head coach and the entire defensive coaching staff, it’s a miracle we have lost the few players we have and mostly from reserves looking for playing time. And we may be getting a few transfers to come back in NHG and Amorion Walker. This is college football today. Buckle up
