From one of the links:

Michigan is one of nearly 40 schools to offer Suggs, who entered the portal April 22. Suggs has already visited Arkansas, Wisconsin, Florida State and Kentucky, and is scheduled to see Michigan State Sunday (May 5).

HS class of 2019, so Quentin Johnson would have another 6th-year around. :)

No. The difference between FBS and DII is too much. But give them a 5-year sojourn through FCS land and I bet they'd be ready to make the jump to the MAC. GVSU and Ferris should really both make the jump to FCS. And not just because I wish they'd stop beating the shit out of my huskies...

They won't go FCS because they don't have any programs near them. The travel would be killer.

I've always advocated for the directional Michigan schools to drop to FCS. The costs for those schools to maintain FBS status vs FCS have to be pretty high, and that's all passed on in tuition costs.

If those schools dropped to FCS, a couple of the D2 schools of comparable size could jump to FCS to join them. Help with travel costs to play C Mich, W Mich, E Mich, GVSU in one league.

21 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, five sacks, one forced fumble, and four pass-breakups in 2023 for GVSU.   Two year stats 42 tackles, 8 sacks and 14.5 TFL.

Not relevant in this case.  Suggs graduated last weekend per 247sports.

In any case, the MTA is a great benefit to transfer students.  It's an agreement where the exact mapping of allowed class transfers among schools within Michigan is spelled out in advance.  No surprises under the MTA.

Had to look this up ==>https://admissions.umich.edu/apply/transfer-applicants/community-college-students/michigan-transfer-agreement

==>https://www.mitransfer.org/michigan-transfer-agreement

And nationally  ==> https://transfercredit.ugadmiss.umich.edu/

This is refreshingly transparent. I'm not sure why anyone would go to Michigan for Undergrad  and pay the bucks.

Can confirm after watching a few GVSU games this year, including their final loss against the eventual national champs, that their D-Line was unreal for D2. They lost to Harding, who ran the Army-bone so well that they were the first team to ever rush for over 6,000 yards in a season. I believe they scored over 38 points against everyone in the playoffs (sans GVSU), including a 502 yard rushing performance in a 38-7 drubbing of back to back national runners up Colorado School of Mines in the finals. Long story short, no one even came close to slowing them down last season...except GVSU.

That unstoppable Harding rushing offense scored only 7 points...in the 4th quarter off a short field, and won 7-6 against the Lakers. GVSU's D-line stuffed them in a locker most of the game, and Suggs was a big part of that. He's a beast and I think could be an upgrade from Goode.
