Since many have asked: Unclear exactly how much interest NFL teams have in him, but right now I'd say 80% chance Harbaugh will return to Michigan, and 20% to the NFL. Harbaugh is flying back to Michigan today. If it starts stretching out the odds shift gradually to the NFL.

Doesn't this undermine the whole "I love Michigan" thing? "I guess I'll stay" isn't a great attitude to have as a head coach. Either you're all in or you're not.

Shouldn’t Harbaugh have flown back to Michigan yesterday if he was supposedly meeting with his staff today?

Sounds like Harbaugh had an interview in LA before making the trip back to AA.

Yeah, this means nothing. It's going to be hilarious when he comes back to AA, signs the contract, and acts like he had no idea why this was such a big deal. This wouldn't surprise me a bit. He is a total whack job and him just being on vacation and ignoring everything is something he would totally do.

For the record, i'm not a fan of this anymore and think he should have at least made a statement, but again, that is Jim Harbaugh.

It’s possible there is no story. Maybe he has already signed his contract and is just on vacation. All coaches do take vacations after the season. Maybe he’s been talking to coordinators and plans to meet with his coaches once he’s back and everything is in place.

Everyone assumes this is a clown show but maybe there is nothing to report because nothing is going on. Right now everyone is just speculating. No one outside of JH and WM really know

I have it at 92.3% Harbaugh stays. 7.6% NFL, and .1% he retires just to get a betting line out there.

These numbers are more valid than Bacon's because they are coming later in the day.

That it's even 20% NFL means he's gone.  Unless he gets no decent offer like the Chargers or Lions, both of which have big advantages to him.

Why on earth would the Michigan fan base want a coach who is 80% committed to building a consistently winning and national championship contending program? Please explain this to me

Each day this goes on it makes Jim's job as Michigan's head coach that much harder.  He prefers not to coach here any more.  That is being made crystal clear to everyone with each passing day (players, coaches, recruits, opposing coaches).  I don't know how you bring him back now.  If this team already quit on him in 2020, what are we honestly expecting going forward?

Donovan Edwards only smiled when asked if he signed on for Harbaugh. What does that tell you? Milton will go be a tight end somewhere, McNamara looks like a solid backup to me, McCarthy a newbie. Oy! Need a younger, energetic recruiter who can motivate, teach, and game plan. Is Mike Tomlin available? :)

This whole thing is asinine. Why is this an option?

If the guy doesnt want to be here 100% end this shit. I hate to the Michigan thing and bring Bo into it, but didnt he say "No man is more important than the team, no coach is more important than the team"?

This is getting fucking absurd. Every "expert insider" has conflicting opinions. I know JUB knows his stuff, but this is not a good development for Michigan.

I'm firmly in the camp now of, I don't want him back. Frankly, I think it would be toxic for the program if he does come back. He clearly is not committed to being here, why should Michigan allow him to be?

What player is going to want to play for a coach that pandered for another job before begrudgingly return to coach their team? What recruit is going to sign on knowing the head coach is willingly looking for other offers so he can bail?

It isn't like, Jim was just doing his thing at Michigan when all of a sudden an offer he couldn't pass up comes along. He is actively pursuing NFL jobs and keeping Michigan on the hook until he either gets the offer he wants, or can't find anything better. That is total bullshit, and no Michigan coach should be kept on staff if that is their position. Coach the team if you want to be here. Leave if you're looking for something else. He's making his current team and alma mater look like the desperate girl at the dance, and that is bullshit.

Maybe call his bluff, don’t extend, live with a disaster next year, save the buyout $, and spend time starting now looking for new leadership. Hard to think, I was ecstatic when he came here and still very satisfied until 2018 Ohio game. Now, time to go. Who’s got it better then us? Rhetorical question.

FFS this is maddening. Conflicting reports from multiple “insiders” no one knows shit at this point. Simple as that.

Lions: awkward fit living in Ann Arbor, Texans: ever been to Houston? Even the best parts. Glorified cow town. Jets: I live in NY, media would eat him alive, he’s now Adam Gase 2.0. Jags want Meyer not a washed up Harbaugh. Chargers: this is his favored landing spot I am sure and could happen.
