Sad to see, but makes sense with the entire defense staff changing.
And yet Michigan has beaten OSU 3 years in a row and just won a national championship. Joel Klatt commented yesterday that the cohesion of the Michigan football team was like nothing he'd ever seen before. These guys truly love their teammates and would do anything for them, as opposed to mercenary football. Maybe this is just weeding out a mercenary.
HOW do you think M has kept this roster intact as it is without NIL?!?!!
Yes M is apparently not offering massive upfront money like OSU, Miami, Oregon and the SEC but the NIL Michigan IS doing got a lot of players to come back for last year’s NC run (as opposed to late round NFL or UDFA) and thus far has kept the key cogs for this years team on the roster. (Knocks on wood). Do you not think Graham and Grant haven’t been offered at least DOUBLE what the recent MSU DT transfers will get in the portal? M is focusing what $$ they have to keeping things together as much as possible. You don’t do that by matching whatever UK is offering Waller as a probable 2nd string true Sophomore without pissing off Q Johnson, Paige, Moore, McB and all the other players in similar or better roles.
This is frustrating, sucks a little, etc. but is a way of life until some sanity is returned to the system. Both Waller and Beasley had strong ties to the old staff so this probably also adds to their uncertainty of a future at M.
Personally I really thought the 1-time “free” transfer format was ideal to allow kids to better their situation or get out if a coach left etc. and still allow for a second (pre-grad) transfer with the penalty of sitting out a year if the need was large enough.

Transfer portal and NIL is ruining college football, Let me just see whose on the team in september. No point in following recruiting anymore.
I was half expecting some portal outs at the ILB and RB positions just based on the the positional depth, so I can concoct a story to rationalize this to myself (in contrast to the loss of potential starters at WR or CB!). Still not fun.
Nothing good ever comes out of Belleville for Michigan.
Well Lloyd Carr was an assistant coach for Belleville in the early 70's. And Ian Gold (Belleville Graduate) was a solid player for Michigan. So that was something good.
Wish him luck.
Has a Belleville player ever worked out at UM/CFB more generally? Feels like that school has a ton of talent but they always sort of falter at this level.
i thought he was the leader of the 2024 class. wtf.
Did not see this one coming. Was excited to see him play at the next level for Michigan after watching him play his whole HS career at my old high school. I will have to see if there is any local chatter to what happened here. I don't think playing time would be the issue. Maybe Bryce has him thinking of going down to LSU now.
True freshman lol.
If I'm the coaching staff, I'm never counting on any direct-from-high school recruits to pan out.
Just go portal shopping for every position and recruit over what you have because apparently that's the only way to ensure you will have any depth.
Who cares, he wasn’t going to play this year. Good luck young man.
