Detroit Lions '23 Season Review

Submitted by smotheringD on April 24th, 2024 at 11:37 PM

Last year might have been the best ever for UM and Lions football fans.

And next year should not disappoint.  Both teams are built the right way, #GRIT.

Only 4 months and 1 week until game #1 against Fresno State.  Plenty of time to chip away at this 1:42 season review.

Sorry for the unpopular opinion but “Pull it down” and “You did that” are weird ass, one-off Harbaughism phrases that should never catch on or need to be repeated.

I appreciate his authentic and never-rehearsed character in the moment during the CFP victory celebration but you could tell nobody, including the team, was ready for those zingers.

Wow.   I was just gonna watch a few mins of this and could not turn it off.    It was just a amazing year!   I cried when Michigan won the National Championship, and told my family that it made every loss, and every tough year my whole life being a Michigan fan worth it.  I was 18 in 97, but 2023 topped 97 for me 10x.

And my whole life I have had people laugh at me for being a Lions fan.  Every year I got my hopes up only to be let down hard and usually early in the season.   Its truly magical the culture they have going right now.   I can't wait to see what they add in the draft!   I can't wait to root for both in 2024!    So freaking inspiring!

Go Blue, and Go Lions!

i said last season that campbell (MCDC) was the NFL version of harbaugh - took character over flash, toughness over stats, and it paid off big time.  i loved his line in the team room, 'these seats are not for everybody'.

was at that NFC champ game in SF.  despite the loss, glad that i went.  like virtually all of us lions fans (excepting don, who built the pyramids and watched the lions in the coliseum), it was by far the most memorable lions season of my life.

Thanks for repping this obscure corner of the sports internet world at the NFC Championship game.  I (in my ignorance) remember being dissapointed in the Lions 2023 Draft:

#12 - Jahmyr Gibbs (Who drafts RBs in the top half of the 1st round?)

#18 - Jack Campbell  (Posterized by Corum)

#34 - Sam LaPorta (Brings back memories of drafting Eric Ebron one pick before Aaron Donald came off the board, too many other bad 1st round TEs)

#45 - Brian Branch (Well, alrighty then. I felt neutral about this guy),

Boy, was I ever wrong.  I hope DC can make be look just as stupid this year.  Shouldn't be too hard.
