ESPN FPI Team Efficiencies Update, Wk. 11
The updated FPI team efficiency ratings have been posted, and following the debacle at Kinnick Stadium, Michigan slips to #2 after holding the #1 position for three consecutive weeks. Meanwhile, OSU jumps up to #3 from #5 overall after defenestrating Maryland, suggesting that any issues the Buckeyes had been experiencing since the Indiana game have been resolved.
The U-M splits are offense, #5 (down from #4); defense, #2 (same as last 4 weeks); and special teams, #19 (down from #13). I encourage you to pause and consider the offense.
Of U-M's 2016 opponents, Colorado continuing its to climb to #7, remains the highest rated team U-M will have faced before meeting OSU in 2 short weeks. Meanwhile, Wisconsin shoots up to #9. UCF is still rated above 6 of Michigan's other opponents this season, including Sparty. Sparty moved up to #74 from #82 after securing the Situation Trophy in its tilt with LOLRutgerz. They remain ahead of Eastern and Central Michigan to retain the title of Third Best Team in the State of Michigan. Meanwhile Western Michigan remains in the top ten, but drops to #10 from #9. WMU still looks like a lock for a New Year's Day bowl invitation.
Here's the selectively abbreviated synopsis of the ratings. Click the link above to see the whole list &/or sort by category:

Yeah too bad odds and stats don't win football games - 20 year old kids do.

Rutgers sucks, is bad at football, and they don't belong in the B10. Thanks Delany.

I'd love to see Western do it, but I suspect they'll be crushed in a NY6 bowl. I bet they have a shot against Nebraska theoreticaly, but Western is going to be like Colt Brennan's Hawai'i team

I don't care to see them play PSU or Nebraska or any other B1G team. they alrady have a better B1G record than MSU, Rutgers or Purdue, I don't want them to pass poor Illinois and Maryland too.
